Client Spotlight: Krysten Timmons

In our newest installment of our Client Spotlight series we chat with Krysten Timmons: A JBF client who recently returned home.

Can you tell me a little about how you ended up in the hospital?

I was hospitalized after being evaluated for a problem with my pacemaker. While in the hospital, my team of doctors and I came to the conclusion that an LVAD would be the best option for helping me get better. I had a few setbacks and problems after the LVAD was placed, resulting in a longer stay than usual. But we finally got everything straightened out, and I am doing much better.

Can you tell me about your experience with The Joe Beretta Foundation?

You (Davey) were the person that most helped me during my experience with the foundation. You are always polite, and answer all of my questions to help me understand exactly what is going on. Everyone that I have spoken to that has any affiliation with the foundation been very helpful.

Can you tell me about a specific moment where TJBF was able to help you?

If it weren't for the help we received, my fiance would have had to spend two months in the hospital with me and I would have had no place to go after being released to take place in cardiac rehab. TJBF was able to help pay for our stay in Nashville, which was a huge blessing for us.

What are some of the things you enjoy doing?

I love spending time with my son, Gabriel. He will be turning 9 soon, so he keeps me on my toes. We enjoy being outdoors. Grilling, swimming, or just relaxing in the sun. I also enjoy reading and cooking.

How has heart failure limited your ability to do those things?

Before I was hospitalized and got my health better, I couldn't do any of these things. It really took a toll on my mental health, but now that I am able to do things I love with my family on a daily basis and am much happier.

If you were to speak face to face with the donors who helped provide you with help, what would you say?

If I could speak to the donors first of all, I would thank them over and over again. If not for their help, I honestly don't know what we would have done being over two hours away from home and dealing with all of the curve balls thrown our way. I can't express how much it helped myself and my family. This foundation is a blessing.
